Technical FAQ In Layman's Terms!

What Is CFM?  CFM is an acronym for "Cubic Feet per Minute". This is a measurement of air volume velocity.

What Is A Sone?  The technical definition: a unit of perceived loudness equal to the loudness of a 1000-hertz tone at 40 dB above threshold.  The Layman's defintion: A sound rating applied to ventilation fans.  Super loud bathroom fans are near 5-6 sones.  There are whisper quiet bath exhaust fans - moving 100 cubic feet of air (cfm) - rated at .5 sones (really really quiet).

What Is Net Free Venting Area?  The total unobstructed area through which air can enter or exhaust a non-powered vent; generally measured in square inches.
